California Trivia: The California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) is the state flower but Indian Paintbrush, Calla Lily and California Fuchsia all grow in Cali too.

Historically, some Indigenous tribes refused to use poppy because of its potential toxicity.

Others utilized the poppy roots for pain relief, the flowers for gum or candy, and the pollen for eye shadow or body paint.
